What is MOMS Club?
MOMS Club of Westchester-West, California is a chapter of International MOMS Club. Our chapter was established in 2000 and has grown into the incredible group it is today. We are "MOMS Offering Moms Support" - hence the "MOMS" acronym. MOMS Club is a non-profit support group for stay-at-home mothers and their children (including moms working part-time and moms with home-based businesses). At-home mothers of any age children are welcome. Even once your children enter school, you are encouraged to remain a member because we know you still need support as your children grow.
We are local moms who come together to offer one another support, resources and friendship. We also work to assist needy families in the Los Angeles area each year with our popular service projects.
Most of our activities and events are during the day when stay-at-home moms need support the most! We believe being a mother shouldn't isolate you, so mothers may bring their children to meetings, activities, and events! We have several playgroups to choose from and many activities to take part in. There are clubs (like the popular Walking Club where you bring your stroller and go, go, go!), parties, fun days, ice cream socials and pancake breakfasts too! In addition to the plethora of daytime events, we also host a Moms' Night Out and a Couples' Night Out each month which are for adults only (unless you have a newborn).
For our expectant members, our Helping Hands program is a gift from heaven. Our members volunteer to make and deliver meals for the first two weeks because we all know that cooking is the last thing on your mind with a brand new baby in the house. Even if you need to run an errand and can't make it out of the house, Helping Hands can arrange for volunteers to assist you.
In our hectic lives of caring for our children and families, MOMS Club is here to support you!
History
MOMS Club began in 1983 when Mary James, an at-home mother in California, decided she was tired of being alone at home. She wanted to meet other at-home mothers and she wanted to find other at-home children for her children to play with. When she discovered there were no other organizations that met during the day and allowed her to come with her baby and preschooler, she decided to start a brand new organization just for at-home mothers, and the MOMS Club was born. The chapter she started was so successful, she knew mothers in other areas must be needing the MOMS Club, too. Soon she and other volunteers were helping mothers start MOMS Clubs across the country and around the world!
We now have over 2,100 chapters with more than 110,000 members across the United States. We also have International chapters starting too!
